The B.I.M. (Building Information Modeling) represents the new frontier of civil design: in a few decades we moved from ink pens and whiteprints to a parametric model in which structural elements, such as a mat-slab foundation, a footing or even a reinforcing steel bar, can be visualized in three dimensions by the Designers, the Clients and the Construction companies.
Designers from different sectors (architects, structural engineers and MEP designers) enrich a single project through an integrated and interdisciplinary collaboration for a multy-disciplinary approach to design. Thanks to this collaboration, they can detect all the clashes between the different elements in a direct way. The project is then represented in an innovative way with 3D pdf, render,… and can be modeled with 3D printers. In this way, a greater reliability of the project is achieved.
Every single structural element is incorporated in the same 3D model and therefore a change on one of them, automatically and simultaneously, brings a quick update of the printing tables, metric calculations and related reports.
RIVA Ingegneria uses BIM software Allplan Engineering since 2015 and thanks to four licenses every project is approached through a BIM approach for a synergical collaboration with architects and MEP engineers. BIM Specialist –Structure certification, got by M.Sc. Matteo Riva in according to Standard UNI 11337-7, guarantees a deep knowledge and an effective expertise in the digital management of construction industry.
